It was near the banks of the Nile river, some 7000 years ago, the first villages of ancient Egypt began to appear. There were several cultures which appeared around the same time, and it was these cultures which would eventually lead to the famous Egyptian civilisation in the next few centuries.
Around 3100 BC, King Menes united the lower and upper Egypt, which led to the dynastic period for the next several hundred years. During this time, the great pyramids of Egypt were built. Although, the complete story of the pyramids – how exactly they were built – still remains a mystery. It is worth noticing that Egyptian civilisation was a massive one. By the time it ended in around 1500 BC, it had spanned a period of thousands of years, which makes it one of the longest civilisation in the history.
